| Systems Administrator (SQL Server/IIS) UNRWA Lebanon will introduce new multi-user web-based intranet and Windows applications to streamline business processes and consolidate information. The incumbent will be responsible for the administration of these systems. Working within the Information Systems Office, the incumbent reports to the Field Information Systems Officer and work with the ISO Technical Services Officer, Field Analyst/Programmer as well as e-Health project staff and other UNRWA staff as directed. DUTIES Configures, administers and monitors to the UNRWA Lebanon web-based Intranet and database servers. Perform database change management tasks on ‘test’ and ‘production’ servers. Installs system updates, performs backups and routine maintenance operations. Monitors intranet bandwidth and database performance problems making recommendations for improvements. Coordinates with database and software developers including developing schedules, task assignments, regular meetings, reviewing and reporting on work. Establishes and adheres to standards in change management. SELECTION CRITERIA Academic and professional: A recognized university degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Experience: At least two years experience and advanced skills in administering intranets or websites incorporating Microsoft IIS web and SQL Server database servers. Language: Very good command of written and spoken English and Arabic. Competencies: Able to work independently, as well as cohesively within a small team; dedicated; client-focused; plan and organize tasks; work well under pressure; shows initiative, enthusiasm and professional integrity; keeps abreast of trends in their field of endeavor; excellent written and spoken communication skills; and respect for diversity. Desirable: A Microsoft Certified Professional qualification, e.g. MCDBA, MCSA, MCTS: SQL Server 2005, with a focus in SQL Server administration and/or IIS web server administration Understanding and experience in change management, distributed databases, high-availability of enterprise applications, database tuning, security (access privileges) and backup, restoration and disaster recovery policies and procedures. Experience in administering source code control software, e.g. Visual Source Safe or CVS. Experience in administering task management or help desk software, e.g. OneOrZero, Bugzilla Experience in Linux, MySQL or Apache administration and open source tools built upon these systems. Experience in testing of software applications. Good technical documentation skills. Experience in the full software development life cycle.
