Generator Mechanic

This is a position with a physical rating of heavy. Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience in power generation equipment repairs. Electrical background 1-3 years experience. Should have experience in the Army 52 Series MOS or equivalent.

Must be able to perform direct support maintenance functions including replacing major components, troubleshooting fuel, electrical or engine problems. Must be able to read electrical schematic and perform technical inspections. Must have thorough knowledge of Army technical publications related to power-generation equipment maintenance.

Must have a U.S. passport. Must be able to pass a physical exam due to the harsh living and working conditions. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. This is a one (1) year assignment. You should expect to work 12 hours days, 7 days a week.

Must have a strong background with maintenance of reciprocating engines. Must have demonstrated ability to provide hands-on troubleshooting and maintenance for the generator sets. Maintain, repair, and service Power Generators at the unit, direct support and general support maintenance level.

Overhaul up to, but not including, rebuild of power generation equipment, internal combustion engines and associated equipment through 200KW.
Additional responsibility for ordering and receiving service and replacement parts, coordinating generators and fuel tanks and inspecting and maintaining fuel tanks, fuel burners, and electrical wiring.

Automated transfer switch and switchgear experience is a plus. Overhaul of starters, alternators, generators, fuel injectors, voltage regulators, switches, control circuits, etc. Must be willing to service equipment and prepare service documentation. Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Perform ECOD or BDA when requested by the customer.


Working Conditions:

Extreme danger, stress, physical hardships and possible field living conditions associated with this position within a desert camp complex.

Ability to function during an extended assignment at a foreign, in-country facility exposed to seasonal temperature extremes. Ability to cope with shared cafeteria, bath and sleeping quarters. Must be able to walk, kneel, bend and stoop, and have correctable vision. Supervised by the Site Manager or senior Human Resources personnel.
