Track Vehicle Mechanic (Skill types: M2 / M3 / M113 / AAVP7)

This is a position with a physical rating of heavy. Minimum of three (3) years specific experience in track vehicle maintenance operations, supervision, inspection, QA or related areas. Must be able to perform unit level maintenance on tracks vehicles in other than self propelled field artillery, armored, mechanized, and armored cavalry units.

Must be able to perform troubleshooting and unit maintenance on all major components. Must be familiar with preventive maintenance and be able to service a large selection of tracks vehicles in according with military technical manuals. Must also possess superb mechanical skills, as well as master knowledge of hydraulics and / or pneumatic systems. Knowledge of Army/Marine Corps maintenance technical publications related to Track Vehicle Maintenance a must.

No Security Clearance Required. U.S. passport required. Must pass a pre-employment physical, due to the harsh living and working conditions. Must also pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. This is a one (1) year assignment. Expect to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Troubleshoot and perform unit maintenance on internal combustion engines and accessories, power trains, and chassis components of track vehicles. Perform repairs and preventive maintenance checks and service. Test lead acid batteries for serviceability. Prepare vehicles for operation under abnormal conditions by sealing, waterproofing, and servicing and special fuel and lubricants.

Perform unit maintenance to correct malfunctions of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems or components. Perform preventive maintenance on tools, repair parts, assigned vehicles and shop equipment adjusts operating mechanisms. Tune engines and replaces repair parts and components as outlined in the appropriate maintenance allocation charts.

Test and operate vehicles and equipment as required and observes for evidence of abnormal operation. Operate, or assist in the operation of, track vehicles in conjunction with maintenance and recovery operation. Interpret schematic diagrams. Determine extent of corrective action and repair parts procedures required.


Obtain parts from maintenance parts supply section. Perform repair of gas turbine power plants / packs, diesel power plants / packs, compression ignition engine fuel systems, compression ignition air induction systems, vehicle air cooling systems, vehicle liquid cooling systems, track hull electrical systems, automatic transmission assemblies, track vehicle cross drive transmission assemblies, transfer assemblies, hydraulic brake systems, mechanical / hydraulic steering systems, track vehicle hydraulic assemblies, fire extinguisher / suppression systems. Repair track vehicle using battlefield damage assessment and repair.

Working Conditions:

Extreme danger, stress, physical hardships and possible field living conditions associated with this position within a desert camp complex.

Ability to function during an extended assignment at a foreign, in-country facility exposed to seasonal temperature extremes. Ability to cope with shared cafeteria, bath and sleeping quarters. Must be able to walk, kneel, bend and stoop, and have correctable vision. Employee will be supervised by the Site Manager or senior Human Resources personnel.
