| Urban Designer Job Title: Urban Designer Reports To: Urban Design Manager Department: Design Department Summary As a member of the Core Design Services within the Design Department responsible for input, review and monitoring of master planning/urban design activities from inception of project to sign off with focus on developing first class, international standard urban designs including co-ordination of technical issues with consultants, clients and authorities. The candidate should be able to comprehend internal and external user needs and be able to deliver distinctive and unique master planning concepts in line with the overall vision of the Company. Key Duties & Responsibilities: (to include but not limited to the following) „X Work with Development Managers to establish the corporate vision for projects „X Prepare conceptual master planning/urban design for internal valuation processes „X Prepare design briefs, scope of work, RFP documents for master planning consultants „X Evaluate consultant proposals „X Review submitted master plans for project feasibility and satisfactory representation of clients¡¦ development philosophy „X Review and ensure compliance of master plans with all applicable quality norms „X Work closely and effectively with the Development Department and other divisions within Design Department to ensure that developed master plans are both financially and technically feasible „X Review consultants design development of approved concept master plans „X Manage relationships with regulatory/ compliance authorities for master planning „X Manage support staff in the production of internal master plans/urban designs „X Ensure that master plans are completed according to time and budget Qualifications & Skills A. Education and Experience „X Any combination of qualifications and experience equivalent to a Master¡¦s degree in Urban Planning and/ or Urban Design „X Minimum 15 years work experience in urban design, of which at least 7 years should be with a well reputed world class urban design firm in a project manager or senior urban designer position „X Must have handled large scale, multi-million dollar, mixed-use development projects B. Specific Knowledge/ Skills „X Well-developed perspectives on urban planning ideologies and resort development „X Commercial understanding of property development „X Good knowledge of infrastructure and transportation industry „X Competency in computer applications required for planning and design assignments „X Ability to communicate urban design briefs and concepts effectively „X Effective team-work skills „X High degree of facility with the English language; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage | |
