| Head of Drug & Medical products department Job Description This is a professional level position that is responsible for the day to day operational leadership of the Drug and Medical (DMP) Department of HAAD. The head of this department reports to the director of Provider Policy and Regulation. DMP department is responsible for setting policies and regulations to assure the safety, efficacy and the quality of drugs and medical products in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The head of this department will be required to work with his regulatory officers to re-organize, staff and oversee all different activities. The incumbent also will coordinates with other HAAD department for support activities to ensure that the DMP objectives are met and ensure a smooth flow of all processes. Job Duties: • Serves as lead spokesperson for all HAAD’s drug regulatory functions. • Set all required policies and regulations to ensure the safety, efficacy and quality of drugs and medical products in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi • Establish a drug policy for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi • Supervises the team that work of different units of the department ensuring uncompromisingly high quality and standards. • Ensure that all regulation are comprehensive, fair, and applicable and are in compliance with UAE and International laws and treaties. • Set a zero tolerance policy for any type of conflict of interests • Ensure that each unit operate according to standard operating procedures and that these procedures are updated as required. • Provides input and guidance to the CEO and Directors of HAAD’s divisions about the development of new products, programs, and services which can improve the quality of care in Abu Dhabi. • Establish excellent communication and collaboration with Ministry of Health and all other Health Authorities in UAE. Collaborate, and lead initiatives and programs at national level. • Ensure drug regulations are implemented and that are in compliance with Federal laws of UAE and international laws signed by UAE. • Ensure that enforcement of drug regulations covers all sectors and all region of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. • Establish partnerships and collaboration with international partners and organize events to educate the public and the health professionals on different issues related to drugs and medical products Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. in chemistry, pharmacy, biology, microbiology, or medical science or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and professional development with at least seven (5) years of broad exposure to drug regulation experience required. Excellent management experience of a multidisciplinary groups is highly desired. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training and Experience: Must have regulatory or pharmaceutical industry experience and multi-year interaction with broad contacts within drug regulation. Strong organizational skills combined with excellent written and oral communications ability are a must. The incumbent must have a demonstrated ability to analyze data and make sound scientific decisions. Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Drug Quality Controls, Good Regulatory Practices (GXP), cGMP Compliance, and drug safety. The incumbent should also have a current and expert understanding Drug Laws, Drug Development, and the regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical ingredients in UAE. Experience in writing drug policies, assessment of pharmaceutical sector, drug supply management are a plus. Working knowledge about narcotic medicines, medical devices, traditional and alternative medicine is desired. Supervisory Requirements: Because of the wide range of scientific skills, regulations and functions of this department, the head of DMP must have excellent supervisory, organization and management skills and demonstrated ability of creative and proactive leadership. | |
