| Electrical Design Engineer Job Description As a provider of multi-discipline technical services, my client is committed to design excellence and delivery of first class solutions which combine innovation, imagination, and best practice. Due to our continuing expansion we now require Electrical Engineers to provide expertise on multi-discipline projects within our Sharjah Office. Working in a multi-discipline team of engineers & architects, providing a professional design service to our clients, this is a great opportunity for engineers to gain technical exposure within an internationally renowned consultancy. Current and forthcoming projects include: new Cardiac Hospital; new mixed use township development; office & retail facilities in Mumbai; new high-rise hotel & residential developments in Bahrain, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi & Egypt. Requirements Technical Competencies Essential • Degree qualified –BEng or BSc • A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in the design of MEP projects • Experience of electrical design software – Amtech & Dialux design packages essential. An understanding of IES Design suite beneficial • Good knowledge of Health & Safety best practices in the Middle East • Understanding of British, American and International design standards • Good level of computer literacy in Windows, Excel, MSProject and other Microsoft products – an understanding of AutoCAD is essential • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles • Demonstrable experience in and commitment to low energy design • Contractual Awareness Desirable • Member of CIBSE or IET (or equivalent) • CEng qualification • Experience in the design of high rise services (G+40 preferable) • Experience in Middle East • LEEP AP awareness Behavioural Competencies Essential • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English • Able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a proactive way • Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients is essential • Customer focus • Good planning and time management • Team player • Good attention to detail Responsibilities • Represent Atkins Engineering Department at internal technical / project meetings, external clients, ministries, public bodies • Carry out electrical services (Lighting, Small Power, Fire Detection & Alarm etc) concept and detail design to ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA, International and British Standards and Local municipality and Utility Authority regulations • Responsible for the production of drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules through schematic, outline & detailed design, and tender issue, under the supervision of a Senior Engineer • Coordinate with architects, mechanical building services engineers, structural engineers and other disciplines • Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of their own work • Responsible for the checking of CAD • Coordinate, instruct and supervise electrical draughtsmen • Site surveys and reports • Provide project progressto the Senior Engineer • Complete engineering work within the agreed programme, or notify the Senior Engineer of any alterations • Give site backup on technical/design issues, where required • Identify project change • Customer focus • Support the Project Manager to enable him to manage all time and cost related aspects of the project • Liaise with local authorities • Responsible for compliance with Atkins QA/QC procedures and implementation of procedures Salary and Benefits • A competitive salary for the right candidate • Accommodation allowance • Transportation allowance • 30 calendar days annual leave • Medical and life insurance cover • Company gratuity scheme • Discretionary bonus scheme • Annual return airfare to point of origin | |
