Operations Manager

The Operations manager will be responsible for ensuring the General Operations including the Support Services Division are established on a sound basis to enable them to support and enhance the hospital in delivering healthcare services to the highest international standards. In particular, he/she will:

Facilitate the provision of appropriate professional input and advice into commissioning processes ensuring that commission plans are developed in accordance with professional standards.

Determine space, equipment, supplies and support systems to ensure effective functioning of unit/ department.

 To manage the commissioning of all aspects of the Operations and Support Services and associated areas and oversee any supporting working groups set up to undertake detailed work

 To establish detailed operational procedures, standards and systems for Operations and Support Services associated with the health care, academic and support functions to be accommodated within the hospital.

 To take primary responsibility for development of Policies and Procedures for the Operations division to include policies and procedures for safety and risk management issues. Participate in development of Policies and Procedures for all other related divisions.

 To prepare plans for Major Incident/ Disaster events including emergency action procedures and activities related to patient/staff evacuation as needed.

 To manage the commissioning of operations and patient service activities to meet organisational requirements and objectives related to the provision of services within designated areas.

 Participate as required in the selection and appointment of staff reporting to him/ her in accordance with procedures laid down by the organisation.

 To participate fully as a member of the Commissioning Management Team and prepare a written report on progress for each team meeting and any other reports as requested by the Commissioning Director

 To identify and report to the Commissioning Director potential conflicts which arise in the commissioning process and provide recommendations for resolution

 To support fully the Commissioning Director in their duties in addition to undertaking any additional tasks as requested to ensure the hospital opens on time.

Education

 A first Degree or equivalent relevant qualification.
 Post graduate qualification an advantage.
 Management qualification desirable.

Experience

 At least 5 years experience in a senior management role in a major complex organisation.
 Can demonstrate having led change management processes which have demonstrably improved standards and quality levels.
 Experience of hospital management, financial and procurement practices.

Skills and Knowledge

 The appointee will demonstrate managerial competence including:
 Ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation.
 Have successfully demonstrated a high level of people management, governance and organisational skills.
 Ability to lead processes which demonstrate improvement in patient and user experience.
 Computer literate.
